Recommended length (ADA 1:12) 10 ft. Safest for independent wheelchair use
Occupied (2:12)5 ft.
Unoccupied (3:12)4 ft.

Why slope matters: ADA recommends 1:12 slope for independent wheelchair use (1 inch of rise per 12 inches of ramp). 2:12 is only appropriate with a caregiver; 3:12 only for unoccupied transport. Always verify local building code before installing.

PVI Solid Portable Ramp

The PVI Solid Ramp is a one-piece, non-folding aluminum wheelchair ramp built for stability and simplicity. Where folding ramps trade rigidity for portability, the Solid Ramp does the opposite — there are no hinges, no joints, and no moving parts to wear out or work loose. You set it down, anchor it with the included security pins, and it stays put.

This makes it the right choice for fixed-location access where the ramp lives in one spot day after day: a back step into the garden, a low porch, an interior threshold between rooms, a workshop entrance, or a regularly used vehicle loading point. It's also lighter than equivalent folding ramps because it skips the hinge hardware — the 3' × 30" model is just 15 lbs.

Available in three lengths (3', 4', and 5') and two width options:

  • 30" wide — fits standard wheelchairs and most mobility scooters; lighter to position
  • 36" wide — extra clearance for wider chairs, larger scooters, and easier alignment

All variants share the same welded aluminum construction, anti-slip high-traction surface, and 800 lb maximum capacity.

Key Features

  • Solid one-piece design — no hinges or joints, maximum rigidity in use
  • Welded aluminum construction stands up to weather and daily use
  • Anti-slip, high-traction surface runs the full length of the ramp
  • Full-platform deck accommodates a wide range of wheel configurations — manual chairs, power chairs, mobility scooters, walkers, rollators
  • Lightweight aluminum — 15 to 30 lbs depending on size, easy to reposition when needed
  • Steel security pins included for anchoring the top of the ramp to your step or landing
  • Safety DVD included with setup and operation guidance
  • Made in USA by Prairie View Industries
Choosing Length

PVI recommends a maximum 2:12 slope for occupied wheelchair and scooter use — that's 1 foot of ramp for every 2 inches of vertical rise. As a quick reference:

  • 3' ramp — rises up to about 6"
  • 4' ramp — rises up to about 8"
  • 5' ramp — rises up to about 10"

For ADA-compliant 1:12 slope (recommended for unassisted use), you'll need 1 foot of ramp per inch of rise. The Solid Ramp is best suited for shorter rises — porches, single steps, low decks, and interior thresholds. If you need to span a rise greater than 10", a longer folding ramp like the PVI Multifold is the better fit.

Solid vs. Folding

Choose the Solid Ramp if the ramp will live in one spot, the rise is 10" or less, and rigidity matters more than transport. Choose a folding ramp (like the PVI Singlefold or Multifold) if you need to move the ramp between locations, fold it for travel, or store it in a closet or car trunk.

Both options share the same welded aluminum build and anti-slip surface — the difference is whether you prioritize a solid one-piece deck or the convenience of folding.
