Diagram showing where to measure rise height for ramp selection

Measure from the ground to the top of the highest step or landing.

Your rise (step height)

10"

Or enter exact rise: in.

Recommended length (ADA 1:12)

10 ft. ≈ 4.8° incline8.3% grade

ADA maximum running slope

Occupied (1:6)with helper5 ft.

Unoccupied (1:4)no rider4 ft.

A 1:12 slope means 12 inches of ramp for every inch of rise. The bigger the second number, the gentler the climb. Gentler is always safer, so verify local building code before installing.

Why slope matters

Slope	Incline	Intended Use
1:12	≈4.8°	Independent wheelchair use. The ADA standard.
1:6	≈9.5°	Steepest acceptable for an occupied chair or scooter, and only with a qualified helper.
1:4	≈14°	Unoccupied transport only, with no one riding.

Read the ratio as rise to length: 1:4 means every inch of rise needs 4 inches of ramp, so it climbs three times faster than 1:12. Some manufacturers write these same two slopes as 2:12 and 3:12, which are identical inclines in unreduced form.

Use the longest ramp your space allows and follow your equipment’s owner manual. A rise over 30 inches needs a landing or platform.

DECPAC Multipurpose Folding Fiberglass Wheelchair Ramp | Portable Lightweight | 660 lb Capacity | MP44 / MP55 / MP66

The DECPAC Multipurpose is a four-panel folding ramp built for everyday accessibility — use it for steps up to your home, a raised threshold, or to enter the side of a minivan. Available in three lengths to match the rise you need to climb, it folds compactly so it fits in a van and slides easily under a seat, then unfolds in seconds with no assembly or installation required. The longer the ramp, the gentler the grade, so choosing the right length makes for a smoother, safer transition.

Constructed from laminated fiberglass over a rigid foam core, the DECPAC Multipurpose is strong, weather resistant, and quiet — it won't rattle the way a metal ramp can. Despite its strength it stays lightweight and easy to carry, with built-in handles and a hook-and-loop strap that secures the ramp when folded. Every ramp supports up to 660 pounds, making it a dependable choice for wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility scooters.

The deck features a textured, non-slip tread for confident traction, with bright caution striping along the edges for high visibility. The top edge is labeled and fitted with a thick, grooved rubber pad that grips the edge of the step to hold the ramp in place — without scratching or marring your flooring. Ready to use right out of the box, it's an easy, portable solution for the home, for travel, and for renters who need accessibility without a permanent install.
