Enter your step or porch height and we'll recommend the right ramp length.
Measure from the ground to the top of the highest step or landing.
Why slope matters: ADA recommends 1:12 slope for independent wheelchair use (1 inch of rise per 12 inches of ramp). 2:12 is only appropriate with a caregiver; 3:12 only for unoccupied transport. Always verify local building code before installing.
The PVI Multifold Reach Ramp is a folding aluminum wheelchair ramp built specifically for vehicle loading — minivans, SUVs, pickup truck tailgates, and any application where a standard ramp's hook can't clear an obstacle to reach the loading surface. The defining feature is an extended hook at the top end of the ramp that overshoots a rear bumper or tailgate edge, letting the ramp's working surface rest cleanly on the vehicle floor or deck instead of bridging awkwardly across the bumper.
Beyond the extended hook, this is the same trusted folding ramp design as PVI's standard Multifold: the ramp folds in half lengthwise and separates into two pieces widthwise, so two people can each carry one panel — or one person can carry the full ramp by its center handle. The patented hinge eliminates pinch points, and the panels lock back together with a simple pin rotation (no tools required).
Red tailgate straps are included for securing the ramp to a pickup tailgate, an extra anchoring step beyond the standard steel security pins that's especially important for moving applications.
This is the right ramp for loading mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, and manual wheelchairs into vehicles — minivans with conversion floors, SUVs, pickup truck beds, work vans, and accessibility-equipped transport vehicles. It also works for any home application where a standard hook doesn't have the reach to clear thick thresholds, raised landings, or oversized obstacles.
Available in three lengths (6', 7', and 8'), all 30" wide and rated to 800 lbs.
PVI recommends a maximum 2:12 slope for occupied wheelchair and scooter use — that's 1 foot of ramp for every 2 inches of vertical rise.
For unoccupied loading (powered scooter or wheelchair driven up the ramp without a rider), PVI allows a maximum 3:12 slope — roughly 1 foot of ramp per 3 inches of rise. Always measure your vehicle's loading height from the ground to the cargo floor before choosing.
The two ramps share the same folding design, the same hinge, and the same width. The differences come down to two things:
If your primary use is loading into vehicles, choose the Multifold Reach. If your primary use is home access (porches, decks, single steps), the standard Multifold is lighter, less expensive, and a better fit. If you'll do both, the Reach works for home access too — it's just slightly heavier and longer when folded due to the extended hook.
