Enter your step or porch height and we'll recommend the right ramp length.
Measure from the ground to the top of the highest step or landing.
A 1:12 slope means 12 inches of ramp for every inch of rise. The bigger the second number, the gentler the climb. Gentler is always safer, so verify local building code before installing.
| Slope | Incline | Safe use |
|---|---|---|
| 1:12 | ≈4.8° | Independent wheelchair use. The ADA standard. |
| 1:6 | ≈9.5° | Steepest acceptable for an occupied chair or scooter, and only with a qualified helper. |
| 1:4 | ≈14° | Unoccupied transport only, with no one riding. |
Read the ratio as rise to length: 1:4 means every inch of rise needs 4 inches of ramp, so it climbs three times faster than 1:12. Some manufacturers write these same two slopes as 2:12 and 3:12, which are identical inclines in unreduced form.
Use the longest ramp your space allows and follow your equipment’s owner manual. A rise over 30 inches needs a landing or platform.
SafeResidential rubber threshold ramps turn a raised doorway or entry rise into a smooth, safe transition for wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, strollers, and everyday foot traffic. Unlike metal threshold ramps that can flex, rattle, and get slippery, each SafeResidential ramp is compression-molded from 100% recycled crumb rubber into a solid, noiseless piece that stays put in wet, icy, or dry conditions.
The molded slip-resistant surface is among the most aggressive available, with tested traction that exceeds recognized standards for both wet and dry use. The solid rubber body will not crack, freeze, or rust, making it a reliable year-round choice for home entrances, garages, patios, offices, schools, and other residential or light commercial settings. Properly installed, SafeResidential ramps have no load weight limitation.
Choose the rise height that matches your threshold, from 3 inches up to 6 inches in quarter-inch increments. Every ramp is 48 inches wide and built to ADA slope guidelines of less than 1:12, so the transition stays gentle even at taller heights. Each height is also available with EZ-Curb side edging, which adds raised curbs along both sides to help keep wheels safely on the ramp surface. For a decorative finish, select models can be ordered with the StoneCap color coating, a granite-look surface available in designer colors that complements your entryway.
Installation is straightforward: sections arrive pre-fitted and are set in place on a clean, dry surface using a recommended non-corrosive silicone adhesive such as SikaFlex 1A. SafeResidential ramps bond to concrete, wood, tile, asphalt, marble, and most other common substrates, and the underside can be field-trimmed to accommodate minor surface irregularities. Foot traffic is typically permitted about 4 hours after installation. Never use construction adhesives such as Liquid Nails.
Every SafeResidential ramp is made in the USA from 100% recycled materials.
SafeResidential ramps are warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. On ramps ordered with the StoneCap coating, coated surfaces are warranted against fading and peeling, and against delamination in interior applications, for one (1) year from the date of purchase. No implied or express warranty applies unless installation is performed by a company authorized by Van Duerr Industries, Inc. dba SafePath Products.
